Pakistan has a coastline extending along the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Oman in the south and China, Afghanistan, and Iran in the north and east. It has a strategic position in the Persian Gulf and the Indian Ocean and it directly borders the People’s Republic of China in the east. The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) is equivalent to a government minister and reports directly to the prime minister.
